A stacked cone, triangle and circle have been stuffed with fiberfill for tactility and softness, and mounted to an 8” x 8” gallery-profile canvas. About my process:
To create my textiles on canvas, I first start by making a digital drawing. I then translate it into a pattern, cut each individual piece out of fabric and sew them together to form a single layer of fabric. Next, I layer my design with batting and another layer of fabric, and used a technique called free-motion quilting to stitch everything together. Free-motion quilting allows me to sketch on fabric with stitches, almost as a pen on paper. Finally, I stitch yarn onto the surface, create a border, and mount the work to gallery-profile canvas.
My artwork is unique and I combine various skills into the creation of my works, often including elements such as hand-dyed fabrics, use of mixed-media, garment construction and fabric manipulation techniques, knitting, drawing, embroidery, and more. Find out more on my About page.
